Enrichment Series: Travel

This event is in partnership with Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato & Majority Whip Councilwoman Selvena N. Brooks-Powers

We hope bringing everyone together for this engagement can bridge the gap for parents/caregivers of children with disabilities. We are helping to heighten understanding and engagement with the travel community. The forum – Enrichment Series: Travel, will allow participants to understand the various travel accommodations available. We hope that even our small part could make the traveling experience easier on both sides of the travel world.

Presenter: Transportation Security Administration (TSA)

Sarah Fabian, Deputy Assistant Federal Security Director of JFK

Sarah Fabian has been with Transportation Security Administration for 20 years. Presently, she leads a workforce of over 390 employees in Terminal 5, John F. Kennedy International Airport. Terminal 5 is considered a very busy and active terminal, screening approximately 26,000 passengers daily.
Under her leadership, she has maintained a great relationship with the airlines and stakeholders to improve the overall satisfaction of the customer experience. Through her guidance, she has developed a knowledgeable and dedicated workforce for the flying public.
During her tenure with TSA, Mrs. Fabian moved up rapidly through the ranks from a uniformed officer to senior leadership. She has been recognized for outstanding team performance and leadership skills. Her commitment and passion are undeniable.
Sarah Fabian is one of 4 girls, born and raised in Brooklyn. Her younger sister was autistic and had renal failure, with a life span of only 5 months. Despite her sister’s struggles, she was blessed with 25 beautiful and happy years.
Mrs. Fabian understands how difficult it can be to care for a family member with disabilities, which has translated into her character.

Lilly Fernandez, Airport Operation Customer Service - John F. Kennedy Airport

I have worked as an Airport Operations Agent at JFK for 15 years. My role has been to provide service to everyone who encounters difficulties when they are traveling, focusing on customers with different types of disabilities; in order to ensure a successful JetBlue experience.

My role as Culture Chair Representative will be to bring awareness to all the programs and relevant topics and coordinate cultural events celebrating our company’s cultural diversity. Being someone with a non-visible disability, I always love to educate our customers and crew members about all the different types of disabilities, both visual and non-visual.
